Info: Pyrope is a garnet, which usualy crystalizes in perfect geometrical crystal shapes. Pyrope can contain various minerals in itself - usualy apatite, black limonite, pyrhotine, pyrite, rutile or black sphalerite. Pyrope has a dark red colour. When the mineral is translucent to transparent it's usually used in jewelery. Pyrope is created usualy in peridotite rocks.
How to recognize: Under UV-light does not flourescent. It disperses light in a special way, that gives it a great luster.
Found: Famous location of pyrope findings are in Czech Republic - in České středohoří, near Třebenic (Podsedice, Chrašťany), hill Linhorka, Dlažkovice, Měrunice and in other locations. Other famous location of pyrope findings is located in Podkrkonoší, near Trutnov. Pyrope was found also near Kolín and České Budějovice. In the world, Pyrope was found in Africa, Tanzania, Sri Lanca and in Scotland.
