Muscovite

Info: Muscovite is the name of various mica minerals, which are with good side fissure and crystallizes in tabular shapes. It can be chipped into elastic and sometimes even transparent leaves. Typical for mica is the silver pearl luster. Variations of muscovite include paragonite, glaukonite, seladonite, roscoelite and the green fuchsite.

How to recognize: Muscovite cannot be dissolved in acids and is only hardly melted.

Found: Muscovite was found in Canada, India, Russia, USA, Norway and Sweden. Plentiful are the muscovite findings in Austria and Switzerland in the famous sites Zillertal and St. Gotthard massive.

Used for: Muscovite is used as heat and electric isolator.
