Info: Stroncianite is usualy found in whole masses. It is a fragile mineral, which usualy have white colour, but often can be found with various colouration - pink-red, grey or green. Stroncianite is translucent to transparent with glassy shine.
How to recognize: Sometimes stroncianite emits blue light under UV-light. When heated, sometimes can become lumenescent (termolumonescence). Stroncianite dissolves in hydrochloric acid, even if the acid is not concentrated.
Found: Stroncianite was found for the first time in Strontian (Scotland), from where bears its name. Crystals of stroncianite were found in Germany, Austria, Mexico, Spain and in USA.
