Spodumen

Info: Spodumen often grows into massive prismatic crystals. It is oftenly whitish, to yellowish in colour. Kunzite and hiddenite are the pink and green variations of spodumen. Sometimes it can be translucent to transparent, but not very often. It is relatively hard mineral.

How to recognize: Varieties of kunzite can have different colouration from different angles - from deep green to yellowish green and pale pink colour.

Found: Spodumen was found in South Dakota (USA), Tancu (Manitoba, Canada), in Urals (Russia), and also in Brazilia, Mexico, Scotland and Sweden. Kunzite is found in Pale (California, USA), in Afghanistan and Brazilia. Hiddenite is found in North Carolina (USA), Brazilia and in Madagascar.

Used for: In large quantities it is important raw material for obtaining lithium. Kunzite and hiddenite are used in jewelry.
