Prehnite

Info: Prehnite is rarely found in tabular or prismatic crystals. It is mostly found in various agregates. Prehnite is colourless to white, often coloured in various colours. Transparent crystals of Prehnite are very rare.

How to recognize: Prehnite can be dissolved in acids and melts in fire into yellow glass.

Found: Prehnite was found in Germany, France, Austria, and in Bergen Hill and Paterson in New Jersey (USA). In Czech Republic prehnite can be found near the town Čáslav, and in Jeseníky mountains. High-quality prehnite was found in Prospect Quarries near Sydney, Australia and in Cradock in South Africa.

Used for: High-quality prehnites are used in jewelry.
