Cinnabar

Info: The crystals of cinnabar usually have trigonal form, but good developed crystals are very rare. Most commonly cinnabar is found in agregate or just dusty covers for other crystals. Typical for cinnabar is the red colour of the mineral. His shine is diamond-like. The colour of cinnabar is so intensive, that remains even when the mineral is smashed in little grains. Because of that quality cinnabar is often used as colour, despite his poison characteristics.

Found: In Spain, Italy, USA, Peru, Russia, China and Algeria. In Czech Republic little quantity of the mineral are found in Hořovicko.

Used for: As mercury ore for extraction of lead for the industry.
