Bournonite

Info: Crystals of this mineral are very valuable among collectors for their double-sided structure. Bournonite is often found among tetraedrite, sfalerite, chalcopyrite, galenite, pyrite arsenopyrite and others. Crystals of bournonite are coloured from grey to black.

How to Recognize: It dissolves in hydrogen nitrate, it melts in low temperature.

Found: Famous deposits were found in Neudorf, Wolfsberg and Freiberg (Germany). Other known deposits were found in Hungary, Romania, Italy, USA, Peru, Bolivia and in Chille. In Czech Republic bournonite is found in Příbramsko.

Used For: As ore for extraction of copper, lead and antimony.
